Given the lack of public awareness of e-democracy (at the beginning of 2015, 79% of EGAP survey respondents said they never heard of the term), highlights the important role of education and educational activities in this area. Although Ukraine ranked 32nd in the UN e-participation global index, small towns (not to mention, villages), have barely heard the echoes of the e-democracy tools that have been implemented in Ukraine over the last two years.
That is why it is important to inform people at the local level of the changes in legislation, new tools to support open data, e-petitions, participatory budget initiatives, as well as ambitious programs which support and promote new start-ups dedicated to the development of e-services.
Between June and September, representatives of the "Podolian Agency for Regional Development" and guest speakers (professional analysts and officials) conducted 6 seminars in the Vinnytska oblast – Zhmerynka, Kalynivka, Ladyzhyn, Bar, Khmilnyk, and Kozyatyn.
The main topics covered in the events were transparent financing instruments, e-participation at the local level, open data, IT for environmental monitoring, crowdsourcing tools, and SMM for public projects.
