NGO "PARD" has held a series of events dedicated to the topic of e-democracy in 2016.
In January and February 2016 an expert survey "Practice of usage of e-democracy tools of governmental organizations in Ukraine" was conducted, where participated 402 non-governmental institutions from 24 regions of Ukraine.
The survey was directed at determining of public figures’ level of awareness regarding existing tools of e-democracy, practicing of their usage in professional activity and development of new technologies that will contribute to the progress of democracy at local and national levels. During selecting the non-governmental organizations that were chosen, experts were invited in every regional center of Ukraine (regional coordinators of network OPORA), also the lists of NGOs were used, which are included in public councils at relevant regional administrations. Relevant policies of e-democracy development at the local and national levels will be created basing on the results of this survey and other studies.
School of e-democracy (Open data for city) took place in Vinnytsia from 1 to 5 April 2016 with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian program "E-governance for accountability and citizen participation» EGAP and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. 20 representatives from different cities of Ukraine participated. The participants found out in details what open data is, how to process it and use in work during 5-day trainings.
A two-day International Forum of e-democracy "Electronic Democracy for Change" was held in Vinnitsa in June 2016, which was attended by more than a hundred participants from all over Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The event was held under the patronage of Euro parliament deputy Michał Boni and was supported by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and the Swiss-Ukrainian program "E-governance for authorities accountability and community participation» EGAP.
Besides that, a summer camp e-democracy «E-dem Lab» was held in August 2016 which was attended by 50 participants where during 4 days representatives of civil society, the IT sector, local councils and universities from 24 cities not only dealt with up-to-date approaches of using visual tools for their ideas, SMM, searching and enhancing the auditory of users under coaches supervision, but also created concepts of social IT projects relevant to the Ukrainian cities. Summer Camp E-DemLab was organized by NGO "Agency for Regional Development of Podillia" in the framework of E-DemLab and was supported by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and Swiss-Ukrainian program "E-governance for accountability and citizen participation» EGAP.
Also there was held a training cycle E-DemLab «Tools of e-democracy and e-governance at the local level." During June-September, representatives of the NGO "Regional Development Agency of Podillia" along with guest speakers (professional analysts, public figures) conducted 6 seminars in the city of Vinnytsya and 6 in Vinnytsya region - in Zhmerynka, Kalinovka, Ladyzhin, Bar, Khmilnyk, Kozyatyn. The main topics of arrangements were transparent financing instruments, tools of e-participation at the local level, open data, IT for environmental monitoring, instruments of crowdsourcing and SMM for public projects.
